CR. JASON BARTELS - ABOUT ME

I have been happily married to my wife Jilly for 32 years and we have three beautiful grown up children and one gorgeous granddaughter who all call the Bundaberg Region home. I live in Division 1, at Sharon and I enjoy spending time with them water skiing, fishing, bike riding and appreciating all that this beautiful region offers us.

I have a very diverse background which has allowed me to gain invaluable experiences in life. I am a Plumber & Drainer by trade, my wife and I ran our own plumbing business for many years, which at times had up to 10 employees. In 2008 I was successfully elected as a Councillor for the Maranoa Regional Council. Because of this I sold my plumbing business and devoted the next 4 years to Council.

 

My family has owned property in the Bundaberg region for over 29 years and was always our preferred holiday destination, in 2010 we purchased our house in Sharon and when an opportunity became available in 2012 for us to relocate permanently to this region we jumped at the chance. I was employed as the Plumbing Coordinator with BRC until Dec, 2015 when I resigned to run as a candidate for the Division 1 Councillor, winning the position in the 2016 Bundaberg Regional Council election.

 

In the 2020 & 2024 elections, I was re-elected as Councillor for Division 1 with the Bundaberg Regional Council and am now in my 4th term as a Local Government Councillor, this experience and the knowledge that I have gained in these roles ensures that I can continue to deliver the needs and wants of the community that I serve.

 

I am a down to earth, honest and direct person who believes in this region and its people. I am open, honest and approachable. I am a good listener and love to have a chat. I am passionate about Local Government and the issues that we all face.

 

I believe in the Region and its people and always speak up for what is best for all and what the Community wants.
