Avondale Park facilities upgrade including amenities block and improved playground equipment was one of the commitments I made that I would deliver at the last election.
Funding for the project was secured in the 2020-2021 budget. Design work was then undertaken, and tenders were called for the construction of the facilities. The new Playground was installed in October 2021, but the amenities block has taken a little longer to get started due to all contractors being busy and trades to undertake the work not available.
I am very happy to report that work is now well underway on the amenities block with footings being poured this week. This project should be complete by Christmas and will make an unusable recreation space a fully functional serviced Park for Avondale.
