What a Year!
It’s been hectic and has gone so quick. The elections were in March, and from there it has just been a blur… New Mayor, 4 New Councillors, 6 Councillors returned, A New CEO and a Full Organisational restructure all done before Christmas 2024.
The Planning and structure that Council has put in place in the last few months, should put our region in a better place to forge ahead and continue to deliver the infrastructure and services that our growing region needs and wants, now and into the future.
The support that I have received from my communities during this time of unprecedented change has been reassuring and the acceptance by our residents to the changes we are making and the understanding that it will create a more efficient and effective Council that is focused on delivering for our Region has been outstanding, and I Thank you for your patience, support and friendship that you have shown during this time.
Not that anything as paused or being put on hold in Division 1 or the Region while all the changes have been happening, with Major capital works projects underway from Moore Park Beach Master Plan Stages 1, 2 & 3 well underway to road works at Winfield, there is always a lot going on.
Major works have also continued across the region, the foreshore works at Woodgate are nearly done, the Aquatic Centre is nearing completion and should be finished by the end of April 2025 and the ANZAC Park redevelopment is progressing well.
Next year we will see the completion of all these much awaited for community projects and they will go from construction sites to essential infrastructure and places of beauty that will not only enhance our region but will provide areas that can be used and enjoyed by all.
While we go on a short break, the Council operations teams will continue to work over the Christmas period. The bins will be collected, the gardens will be kept, and the lawns will be mowed, the water will flow from the taps and the toilets will continue to flush and just in case the disaster management team will also be on standby. A big THANK YOU to all Council staff who make this happen and keep everything running.
I am hopeful and sure that 2025 will be a great year for everyone and the Region will continue to grow and prosper. I always say that I have the best Division and the best Communities in the Region, and I would like to thank everyone for their help and support that they have given me throughout 2024 and to take this opportunity to wish all the residents of Division 1 and the Region the Merriest Christmas and a Happy and Positive New year.
Merry Christmas
Regards Jason.
