This coming Wednesday 14th Oct, marks 6 months since the new Council was sworn in and this term commenced. Time does fly when you are always so busy. A lot has happened in Division 1 and the Region since my last official report, 3 months ago.
Moore Park Beach Community Area Master Plan The most exciting thing that has happened in Division 1 this term, is the launch of the Moore Park Beach Community Area Master Plan. Insite SJC were the successful consultants awarded the tender to conduct Community Consultation and prepare the Master Plan for the area. The process kicked off with a very well attended Community meeting at the MPB Hall on the 8th of September with in excess of 100 residents in attendance. Ideas, views, and feedback was sort and a survey on what are the needs and wants of the MPB Community was handed out and launched online. The survey was available for two weeks at which time the information received from 175 surveys was collated and will now form the bases of the draft Master Plan. Further Community Consultation sessions will be arranged to discuss the findings and to ensure what is being planned is what the community agrees on and wants to see developed in the area. BRC is hoping to have the Final Master Plan in place and adopted by the end of 2020, so that funding for planned works can be applied for and commence in 2021.
Kookaburra Estate Park upgrades A new state-of-the-art playground has been opened at Kookaburra Estate Park in North Bundaberg. The new playground caters to all ages and is an improvement on the previous playground, which had reached the end of its usable life and was decommissioned. The upgraded playground gives children lots of opportunities to engage in free play and climbing activities, as well as providing facilities to ensure that the park supports the recreational needs of the surrounding community and is in keeping with Council’s current infrastructure standards. The playground is located on the corner of Kookaburra Street and Seagull Crescent Bundaberg North at Kingfisher Park and is well worth a visit.
Winfield Road Bridge Replacements
The two single lane timber bridges on Winfield Rd at Possum Creek and Middle Creek which are been replaced with double lane concrete culvert type bridges are now complete. This $4.0 million project has greatly improved the safety and accessibility of Winfield Rd.
'Testing out the new bridges'
Roadworks The last 3 months has seen a huge amount of Road upgrades and Road Maintenance work carried out across the Division. Some of the work that has occurred is as follows: Tantitha Road has had major re-stabilisation, widening and reseal works undertaken.
Gooburrum Road has also had re-stabilisation, widening and resealing works undertaken to the final section that needed to be upgraded. This road has been fully redeveloped and improved over the last few years.
Duck Creek Road Winfield has had Table drain and sediment control works carried out with the reconstruction of 600 meters of roadside drain and the creek crossing on Duck Creek Road has also been upgraded to improve flood immunity and to reduce ongoing maintenance requirements.

Grates and signage have been installed in the Fairydale Road Access Road to the Floodgates.
MPB Nth Beach Access Boulders/rocks have been installed along the dune at the Moore Park Beach northern access point to formalise the access point to the beach and to hopefully prevent 4 Wd’s driving on the dune, which will allow the vegetation and grasses to redevelop in this area.
Dooley’s Bar Dooley’s Bar seating area at Claude Dooley Park MPB has been replaced. The replacement is an aluminium construction and should last and is much safer to sit on then the old bar which had come to the end of its useable life. Works are planned for a post and rail to be installed next to the bar seating area, for the art works/memento’s to be displayed on. Isaac Moore Drive - Intersection Street Light
Residences bought to my attention the need for a streetlight to be installed on the corner of Isaac Moore Dr and Booyan Rd. This has now occurred, and the solar powered light does make the intersection so much safer. This is just a snap shot of some of what happened in Division 1 over the last 3 months, and I do try to share regular updates on my Facebook page as works occur, but there is always a lot happening and going on in the Division and Region, too much to fit into one report. I am always out and about conducting my regular community catch ups and consultations as time permits. But should you have anything that you would like me to look at and/or discuss with you, just give me a call on 0438 681 189 and we can arrange a time to meet.
