Declaration of Office 2024

Well the 4th April, 2024 is the day your new Council gets sworn in. Councillors will take the Declaration of Office at the special post-election meeting this morning and we will officially be able to “Get on with the job,” not that I have ever stopped.

The post-election meeting is being held at 11am and can be viewed online here:

At this first meeting we:

-take our declaration of office

-appoint a deputy mayor

-set the days and times for council meetings

-and appoint Councillors to the Local Disaster Management Groups

Councillors will then spend the coming days participating in an induction program to help them better understand how council operates along with their roles and responsibilities as elected representatives and be bought up to speed with all Council matters and business.

Busy, but exciting times ahead.
