The Moore Park Beach Community Association AGM was held on Saturday 7th October, 2023. A big THANK YOU to the outgoing Committee, and Congratulations to the Incoming Committee and members.
It was great to see so many interested residents turn up to be part of the AGM and to hear an Economic update on the region from Mayor Jack Dempsey and a Divisional update from myself.
Jack delivered a comprehensive report on the region and the Council which took up most of the allocated time, so I kept my report short and focused on the main issues concerning Division 1 at this time. A copy of my notes/summary of what I presented and was discussed are below for those that could not make the meeting-
Topics discussed-
1. MPB Master Plan Tender- Re-Tenders
TEN/2215 – Design and Construct Moore Park Beach Community Buildings Tenders are out for the third time. Tenders opened on the 23rd of September and close on the 31st of October. We have had a lot of enquiries and we are confident this time around that we will get a Contractor to take on this project.
We have separated the building works from the civil works in an endeavour to make it more attractive to smaller contractors/firms that may not be able to undertake all work that is required. We are hoping that Contractors will tender to build this much needed Community facility, this time around.
2. Current projects underway MPB & Division 1-
Booyan Rd Roadwork's- The contract has been awarded and works will commence as soon as the contractor is available and able to start.
Avondale Park Amenities- This project has commenced with the builder on site from yesterday morning.
3. MDLA 3040- Proposed Coal Mine Council has written to the Minister of Resources and confirmed our position which is-
“That Bundaberg Regional Council advocate to oppose Mineral Development License Application MDLA 3040 and any potential coal mining activity in parts of the Bundaberg Region that have high-value agriculture or tourism and environmental sensitivity.”
Q&A from the floor - Numerous questions about various topics were discussed. This part of the morning was not minuted, so a copy of this is not available, sorry.
