It just seems like yesterday that I was sitting down to do my Christmas greeting last year and here we are again. We must be having fun or growing old quickly because time certainly is flying by. This year has gone, and we are quickly approaching 2022, let’s hope the New Year brings and end to the Pandemic and life can return to some sort of normality.
Council and I have copped a flogging this year and mostly from events, actions, and the untruths of others outside our control, from illegal tree clearing, to compliance issues that cause havoc to neighbours, and events that we can’t blame anyone for, drainage issues caused by excessive rain it seems that my phone hasn’t stopped ringing and my inbox is always full. There is always something occurring in my Division and the Region that needs my attention, so I am definitely looking forward to a break over the Christmas and New Year Period.
As always there has been more good going on then bad, but it seems the negative issues always have a louder voice, but they are thankfully only the minority. Our Region is booming and continues to improve every year. I won’t go into too much detail now as I am planning on doing a major report in March which marks the mid-way point of this term.
The year gone has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs due to the Covid 19 virus and all the issues it has caused in our region and the world. Throughout the year, one thing that I can see hasn’t changed in our region and particularly in Division 1 is the amazing sense of Community. We are so lucky to have many Community groups, organisations and people in general that strive to ensure our communities are the best that they always can be and that no one gets left out or left behind. It is my privilege and honour to work for and with such a friendly, kind and caring community that is Division 1 and the Bundaberg Region.
Regardless of what 2021 has been, it is now the happiest time of the year again. May the good times and treasures of the present become the golden memories of tomorrow.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ahead!
Talk soon (hopefully not until next year)
Regards Jason.
